Connelly Women's Ensemble Tours Italy
The 90 member combined choirs of Cornelia Connelly High School and Mater Dei High School traveled through Italy June 18 - 29 performing in the great cathedrals of Milan, Venice Florence, Rome, and Vatican City. The inspirational trip allowed the students to experience Italy, view artistic masterpieces and visit long-studied architectural wonders. Connelly Choral Director, Brian Dehn, and Mater Dei Choral Director, Scott Melvin, led the choirs, together and separately, in performances at Milan's Duomo Cathedral, Ss. Giovanni e Paolo in Venice, San Marco in Venice, Duomo in Florence, SS Trinit� die Monti and Basilica dei SS Bonifacioe Alessio All'Avedntino in Rome, and High Mass at St. Peters Basilica and a private concert at the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City. The trip ended with the choirs singing to Pope Benedict XVI at an audience in St. Peter's Square.
