A Day of Service
On Thursday, March 23, the Bolsa Chica Wetlands were alive with activity as over 75 students and faculty from Connelly High School in Anaheim planted 350 small shrubs for native birds and butterflies to use as nesting spots. Each year, on "All-School Service Day," over 350 Connelly students and faculty ride buses to prearranged locations throughout Orange County to lend a hand and serve the community. This year there were 12 locations, including a clean-up at Huntington State Beach, gleaning fields in Irvine, packing food at the Community Action Partnership Food Warehouse in Garden Grove, sorting and stocking at St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Shop and Center in Santa Ana, feeding the homeless at The Catholic Worker in Santa Ana, helping students at St. Joseph School and St. Anne School in Santa Ana, and helping and entertaining the elderly at Emerald Court in Anaheim, and Anaheim VIP and Knott Avenue Care Center & Manor in Buena Park. Connelly's All-School Service Day is a long-standing tradition that reaches out to the community, and promotes values and community service.
