THE FOUR-YEAR HOLY CHILD SCHOLARSHIPS
One
full and Two half-tuition Holy Child Scholarships will be awarded

Eligibility Requirements
 - Top 10% score on High School Entrance Exam taken at Connelly High School.
 - Official transcripts showing "A to B+" average for 7th and first semester 8th grade. 
 - One-page typed essay on "The Unique Qualities I Will Bring to Connelly."
 - Detailed list and description of school and community activities.
 - Academic or extracurricular Letter of Recommendation from a teacher or principal. Please note that this letter is in addition to the "Academic Reference" that is found in the application packet. These recommendations must be from two different references.
 - Applicant must apply for Early Decision at Connelly for the 9th grade for all the 2008/2009 school year.

Steps to Apply for This Scholarship
1. Apply for "Early Decision" by completing the Application for Admission, Academic Reference, and having 7th and 8th grade transcripts sent to Connelly from applicants' school. Fill-out a Scholarship Cover Sheet and a Scholarship Application. All must be postmarked Friday, January 30, 2009.
2. Register with the Admissions Office to take the Entrance Exam at Connelly on Saturday, January 17, 2009.
3. Schedule an Admissions Interview for Saturday, February 7, 2009.

THE CORNELIAN SCHOLAR- $2,000 Award
The Cornelian Scholar will be chosen from the top scorers on the Entrance Exam. In addition to demonstrating academic excellence, the applicant should also exhibit dedication to community service, leadership and citizenship.

Steps to Apply for This Scholarship
1. Apply for "Early Decision" by completing the Application for Admission, Academic Reference, and having 7th and 8th grade transcripts sent to Connelly from applicants' school. Fill-out a Scholarship Cover Sheet. All must be postmarked Friday, January 30, 2009.
2. Register with the Admissions Office to take the Entrance Exam at Connelly on Saturday, January 17, 2009.
3. Schedule an Admissions Interview for Saturday, February 7, 2009.
4. Submit a description of applicants' dedication and accomplishment in the areas of leadership, citizenship and community service. Must be postmarked Friday, January 30, 2009.
5. Submit two letters of recommendation from a teacher, principal, priest, pastor or civic leader. Must be postmarked Friday, January 23, 2009.

THE CONNELLY MATH SCHOLAR - $500 Award
The Connelly Math Scholarship is awarded to the applicant with the highest combined score in the mathematics sub-tests on the Entrance Examination. In the event of a tie, eighth-grade math scores will also be considered.

THE CONNELLY SCIENCE SCHOLAR - $500 Award
Steps to Apply for This Scholarship
1. Apply for "Early Decision" by completing the Application for Admission, Academic Reference, and having 7th and 8th grade transcripts sent to Connelly from applicants' school. Fill-out a Scholarship Cover Sheet. All must be postmarked Friday, January 30, 2009.
2. Submit one letter of recommendation from applicants' Science teacher, postmarked by Friday, January 30, 2009.
3. Register with the Admissions Office to take the Entrance Exam at Connelly on Saturday, January 17, 2009.
4. Schedule an Admissions Interview for Saturday, February 7, 2009
5. Submit a Science Fair project to the Connelly Science Fair.

THE CONNELLY ENGLISH SCHOLAR - $500 Award
The Connelly English Scholarship is awarded to the applicant who demonstrates outstanding written ability and earns a high score on the verbal and language portions of the Entrance Examination.

Steps to Apply for This Scholarship
1. Apply for "Early Decision" by completing the Application for Admission, Academic Reference, and having 7th and 8th grade transcripts sent to Connelly from applicants' school. Fill-out a Scholarship Cover Sheet. All must be postmarked Friday, January 30, 2009.
2. Register with the Admissions Office to take the Entrance Exam at Connelly on Saturday, January 17, 2009.
3. Schedule an Admissions Interview for Saturday, February 7, 2009.
4. Submit two letters of recommendation from teachers or school staff members who can attest to applicants' writing ability and accomplishments. Must be postmarked Friday, January 30, 2009.

THE CONNELLY PERFORMING ARTS SCHOLAR - $500 Award
Steps to Apply for This Scholarship
1. Apply for "Early Decision" by completing the Application for Admission, Academic Reference, and having 7th and 8th grade transcripts sent to Connelly from applicants' school. Fill-out a Scholarship Cover Sheet. All must be postmarked Friday, January 30, 2009.
2. Register with the Admissions Office to take the Entrance Exam at Connelly on Saturday, January 17, 2009.
3. Schedule an Admissions Interview for Saturday, February 7, 2009.
4. Submit a typed essay (500 words or less) describing applicants' background in voice, dance, theater or instrumental music. Please include the length of time studied and the variety of styles and/or techniques performed and practiced. Must be postmarked Friday, January 30, 2009.
5. Submit two letters of recommendation must be provided from individuals who have knowledge of the applicants' performance ability, aspirations and goals. Must be postmarked Friday, January 30, 2009.
6. Submit an audiocassette, VHS standard play videocassette, or DVD of recent work. Those sent by mail, must be postmarked Friday, January 30, 2009. Cassettes or DVD's should be 10-20 minutes in length and should cover a variety of materials and techniques that emphasize the applicants' performance versatility and strengths. All cassettes or DVD's should be labeled with the applicants' name, title, and author of each piece, and the length of each piece performed. Theater pieces should also include the name of the character portrayed. Some examples include:
- Voice: Perform two songs to music using contrasting styles.
Dance: Prepare a dance displaying ability in ballet, tap, jazz or modern utilizing background music.
Theater: Prepare two monologues (approx. 3-5 minutes each) using either a classical or contemporary theme.
Instrumental: Play two pieces of contrasting style.

THE CONNELLY VISUAL ARTS SCHOLAR - $500
Steps to Apply for This Scholarship
1. Apply for "Early Decision" by completing the Application for Admission, Academic Reference, and having 7th and 8th grade transcripts sent to Connelly from applicants' school. Fill-out a Scholarship Cover Sheet. All must be postmarked Friday, January 30, 2009.
2. Submit two letters of recommendation from individuals who have knowledge of the applicants' interests and skills. Must be postmarked Friday, January 30, 2009.
3. Register with the Admissions Office to take the Entrance Exam at Connelly on Saturday, January 17, 2009.
4. Schedule an Admissions Interview for Saturday, February 7, 2009.
5. A typed essay (500 words or less) discussing applicants' background, interests, and goals in the field of visual arts. Must be postmarked Friday, January 30, 2009.
6. At least ten color photographs or 35 mm slides of original work (slides must be in an 8 1/2" x 11" plastic slide sheet). No more than two of the photos or slides may be of the same piece of work and each must be labeled with the applicant's name, title of the work, dimensions and medium. Entries may be submitted in the following areas: ceramics, painting, sculpture, photography, drawing, printmaking, graphic design, theatre set design, jewelry making, textile/fabric design, or other traditional or ethnic art forms. Must be postmarked Friday, January 30, 2009.

THE CONNELLY COMMUNITY SERVICE SCHOLAR - $500 Award
Steps to Apply for This Scholarship
1. Apply for "Early Decision" by completing the Application for Admission, Academic Reference, and having 7th and 8th grade transcripts sent to Connelly from applicants' school. Fill-out a Scholarship Cover Sheet. All must be postmarked Friday, January 30, 2009.
2. Register with the Admissions Office to take the Entrance Exam at Connelly on Saturday, January 17, 2009.
3. Schedule an Admissions Interview for Saturday, February 7, 2009.
4. Provide information about participation in service programs. This should include: a description of the program, the actual type of involvement performed by the applicant, time involved on a regular basis, total length of time of involvement.
5. A supervisor of the service program should document the information and write a short evaluation of the applicants' participation. Must be postmarked Friday, January 30, 2009.
6. The applicant should write a typed essay (not longer than two typed pages) describing the program and making a special note of what she gained from the experience of serving others. Must be postmarked Friday, January 30, 2009.

THE CONNELLY LEADERSHIP SCHOLAR - $500 Award
The Connelly Leadership Scholarship is designed to honor an eighth-grade young woman for her leadership accomplishments in either a school, church or community setting.

Steps to Apply for This Scholarship
1. Apply for "Early Decision" by completing the Application for Admission, Academic Reference, and having 7th and 8th grade transcripts sent to Connelly from applicants' school. Also, fill-out a Scholarship Cover Sheet and write a typed essay (not more than two typed pages) describing applicants' leadership activities and accomplishments. All must be postmarked Friday, January 30, 2009.
2. Register with the Admissions Office to take the Entrance Exam at Connelly on Saturday, January 17, 2009.
3. Schedule an Admissions Interview for Saturday, February 7, 2009.
4. Two letters of recommendation must be submitted that verify the applicants' leadership activities and accomplishments that support the application for this award. Must be postmarked Friday, January 30, 2009.

COLETTA MERRITT SCHOLARSHIP FOR EXCELLENCE - $1,000 Award
Coletta Merritt, mother of Nancy (Class of 1984), was a source of inspiration and courage to the entire Connelly Community. The Coletta Merritt Scholarship for Excellence is awarded to a young woman of courage, confidence, and cheerfulness. Applicants with these qualities and demonstrated success on the Entrance Examination are encouraged to apply.

Steps to Apply for This Scholarship
1. Apply for "Early Decision" by completing the Application for Admission, Academic Reference, and having 7th and 8th grade transcripts sent to Connelly from applicants' school. Fill-out a Scholarship Cover Sheet. All must be postmarked Friday, January 30, 2009.
2. Register with the Admissions Office to take the Entrance Exam at Connelly on Saturday, January 17, 2009.
3. Schedule an Admissions Interview for Saturday, February 7, 2009.
4. A typed essay using specific examples to describe how they display Cornelia Connelly's virtues of courage, confidence and cheerfulness.
