Science Fair duo wins big in OC contest

Connelly duo wins multiple awards at the Orange County Science and Engineering Fair

Nicole Schoenborn and Liana Rizkalla won three awards with their physics-entry "This isn't Flying, This is Falling with Style" at the Orange County Science and Engineering Fair the week of March 18.

They received an honorable mention in the category of Fluids/Aerodynamics/Thermodynamics.
They won an award from the US Air Force that included a certificate and US Air Foce backpack, lunch box, calculator and picture frame.
They won a $300 cash award from the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

The following Connelly students received top honors for their challenging Connelly Science Fair entries. Each of the winners were invited to compete at the Orange County Engineering and Science Fair.

Chemistry
First Place - Haylie Butler and Lucia La, "Biodiesel: Fuel for the Future."
Second Place - Hannah Butler and Cassidy Halford, "Water Pollution at the Beach."
Third Place - Diem-Khanh (Nini) Nguyen and Lucia La, "It's a bird, no it's a Plane! A Super Solutions!"

Biology
First Place - Elizabeth Neoman and Elizabeth Craig, "The Effects of RGP Solutions on Staphylococcus epidermis."
Second Place - Aneet Sidhu and Isabella Nguyen, "The Growth of Lactobacillus bulgaricus on Different Yogurt Fat Contents."
Third Place - Katherine McCutcheon and Jacqueline Pham, "Plant Growth in Compost and Soil."

Physics
First Place - Nicole Schoenborn and Liana Rizkalla, "This isn't Flying, This is Falling with Style."
Second Place - Rebecca Michael and Christine Nguyen, "Projectile Trajectory."
