Women's Ensemble Performs in China
Connelly's award-winning Women's Ensemble, accompanied by Choral Director, Brian Dehn; Accompanist, Kevin Weed; Head of School, Sr. Francine Gunther; Assistant Head, Mrs. Martha Serrano; families, friends, faculty and Board members, traveled to China July 16-27, and performed in many beautiful and historical locations. The trip began in Beijing, where they performed at the Great Wall, St. Michael's Church, Olympic Square and the Concert Hall of the Central Conservatory. In Xian, the itinerary included a concert in the Hall of Nanjing Art Institute. In Hangzhou the Ensemble performed a concert at the Zhejiang Concert Hall and had the pleasure of singing with a local Chinese children's choir. At their final stop in Shanghai, they participated in Mass at the Shanghai Sacred Heart Catholic Church and performed a concert in the Hall of the Shanghai Normal University. In addition to their performances, they visited the Summer Palace in Beijing; Tiananmen Square and the Imperial Palace in the Forbidden City; the Terra Cotta Warriors, the Yu Garden, the Jade Buddha Temple, and the Silk Factory in Shanghai.
