Cornelia Connelly School freshman and competitive figure skater, Isabelle Alarcon '14, won first place in a Pacific Coast Sectional Competition for synchronized team skating.
Isabelle competes as a member of the Rockers Synchronized Skating Team. In synchronized skating, teams of eight to 16 skaters skate as one. They train very hard to perform in unison to a face-paced song, and be technically strong in sectional-, national- and international-level competitions. Isabelle trains with her teammates before school, after school and on weekends.
The Pacific Coast Sectional Competition took place in Rochester, Minn. in February. The team's goal was to place in the top four at the Sectional Championship in the Open-Juvenile division, said Coach John Saitta. The team took first place with an impressive performance.
