Juniors buy bicycle for needy girl

Late in August, the entire junior class went on retreat in Temescal Canyon. During a section of the retreat that was to teach the girls about service and giving to others, they put together pre-purchased bicycle kits. The girls diligently put together the bikes and prepared to meet the children they hoped to make very happy. The children from the Boys and Girls Club in Venice, whom the bikes were intended for, arrived later in the afternoon and the Connelly girls got to know each of them.

When the time came however, four of the five bikes were perfect size for the children. But one girl's bike was entirely too small and way too young for her. The group that put that bike together looked at each other, clearly observing that while "their child" was trying so hard to hold back her disappointment and look happy, they knew she must have been very disappointed to see all of her friends receive a bike ... and she didn't have one to take home. The juniors decided there and then that they would raise the funds to buy this girl her own bike, in her favorite color.

The junior class did just that! They were able to raise enough funds to buy her a new, red Beach Cruiser - complete with a bell and a basket. Needless to say, we are so happy that Connelly Girls never give up when there is someone in need and they are dedicated to giving to others.
