The MACY Childress organization was founded in 1969 to recognize the work of high school theatre students. Tri-School was honored to be asked to perform a 4-minute excerpt from our spring musical, Seussical on the mainstage at Segerstrom on May 27. The Segerstrom Center for the Performing Arts (formerly Orange County Performing Arts Center) is the largest theatre in Orange County. We were also invited to send two performers to join in an opening number comprised of students from all participating schools, and we were represented by Spencer Fovell and Erica Schaeffer.

Cappies is a national organization allowing student writers to attend and review high school theater productions. This year, the Orange County Cappies had 35 participating schools, attended 61 productions and wrote 1,388 reviews. The top three reviews from each show are selected for publication (two for the Orange County Register Online and one for OC Theater Review Online).
In May, the Cappies Critics voted on nominations and awards based on the shows they saw. Nominations means that a student or a group is ranked in the top five in that category in Orange County. The winners will be announced at the Cappies Gala on June 3, at the Grove of Anaheim.
